Gioia al Negro
A tale of sky, earth and myth
Small points of light shine through our story: the Pleiades, the seven sisters of Greek mythology, transformed into a constellation after being pursued by the gods. From this myth comes the name of a winery that looks to the sky to tell the story of the land.
Basilicata, Lucania, Enotria.
A land of light and wine
Our land is more than a backdrop: it is our lifeblood, our memory, our inspiration. Here, in the region the ancient Greeks called Oenotria — the land of wine — the journey of Mediterranean winemaking began. We continue to write its story, deeply rooted in a land that resonates with life.
A rooted and
widesread winery
Gioia al Negro is a winery shaped by a territory, not confined to a single place. Born in Lagonegro, our project reaches as far as the Vulture area, spanning the hills and coastlines of Basilicata: each area brings its own grape varieties, each partner their expertise, giving life to wines that authentically express the character of an entire region.
Wines that bear the name of their land
From pure Aglianico to the blend with Cabernet in the Vulture area; from Primitivo and Chardonnay with Malvasia in the lands on the outskirts of Matera, to a Chardonnay infused with the scents of the Ionian Sea in Nova Siri, alongside red and rosé Syrah. Every Gioia al Negro label originates in a specific area of the Siritide and tells its story through its distinctive character. Eight wines, eight stories, one vision.
